ABOUT US

Our Story

Our journey began in August 2002 as David’s Playhouse, offering progressive education to a small group of nine preschoolers and four SPED clinic sessions in a rented bungalow in Tagum City. We started with just one teacher and one teacher aide. By May 2004, we officially registered as David’s Playhouse, Inc. with the SEC, as directed by the Department of Education.

After four years, we recognized the need to establish a grade school. In June 2007, we collaborated with Brainworks School, Inc. to open Brainworks School-Tagum, welcoming 83 students with a staff of six certified educators. In March 2010, we amicably ended that agreement. Knowing “David’s Playhouse” no longer fit, we sought and received approval from government agencies to change our name to Bridges Academy, a name that reflects our progressive philosophy. Today, we proudly serve around 350-400 preschool and grade school students each academic year, intentionally keeping our community small to provide personalized attention to every child and family.

Our Seal and Logo

As a progressive school, we developed a unique symbol that embodies our ideals, emphasizing self, others, and the environment. Yellow represents the self, blue represents others, and green represents the environment. The outstretched arms symbolize a bridge connecting the home, the school, and the community, hence our name, Bridges Academy.

Our Educational Philosophy

We believe children learn best in an environment that stimulates their interest in the world around them. Our curriculum is designed to help each student reach their full learning potential while addressing diverse learning styles to challenge every learner. We incorporate grade-level expectations with developmentally appropriate, theme-based units, integrating multicultural perspectives across all areas of study, including Language Arts, Math, Science, English, and Social Studies.

Our Mission

Bridges Academy is committed to teaching students to think responsibly for themselves, collaborate successfully with others, and meet the complexities of a changing world with confidence, competence, and godly character.
