School History

David’s Playhouse was established to provide a progressive type of education to pre-school aged children in Tagum City. In August 2002, we opened our doors to a class of nine pre-schoolers and around four SPED clinic sessions in a small rented three-bedroom bungalow in Delfina Village. Back then, we only had one teacher and one teacher aide.

In May 2004, David’s Playhouse, Inc. was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as per the directive of the Department of Education (DepEd). After four years of operation as a pre-school, we were faced with a need to put up our own grade school. The owners of Brainworks School, Inc., based in Davao City, were gracious enough to fill that need. In June 2007, Brainworks School-Tagum was officially opened to welcome 83 students under a staff of six certified and Brainworks-trained educators in a big house in Rabe Subdivision.

In March 2010, we ended amicably our franchise agreement with the owners of Brainworks School Inc. Since David’s Playhouse is a misnomer for a grade school, we came up with a name that befits the school’s progressive philosophy. Our application for a change of name with the SEC, the DepEd and other government agencies was consistently approved.

Today, Bridges Academy only accepts around 160 pre-school and grade school students each academic year. We endeavor to keep each class to a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:12 to 1:16. We want to keep our school community small so we can continue to give more attention to one child at a time, train one teacher at a time and communicate with one family at a time.
